EMMY Awards 2009 Red Carpet Fashions

The celebrities came out for the 61st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, presented live at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, 20th September 2009.

We could see that the highlight was all more to the jewelry, with a little more glitter and glamour out there, which we love:

Vanessa Williams wows in a turquoise bustier gown by Rafael Cennamo

Tina Fey didn't take any risks by wearing a classic black Gucci gown.

At 59, Sigourney Weaver put women half her age to shame in a one-shoulder David Meister dress.

Iranian actress, Shohreh Aghdashloo was named best supporting actress in a miniseries or movie for her role as the wife of Saddam Hussein in
House of Saddam wore a gorgeous floor-grazing Lorena Sarbu gown, Cartier jewels, Stuart Weitzman shoes and Swarovski clutch. She’s 57-year-old and still looks gorgeous!

Sandra Oh smiled her way to the Emmy Awards wearing a strapless gold-beaded gown. The darker metallic hue complements her skin tone.Love the trendy tassel belt.

Rose Byrne opted to wear a beige crystal-embellished tulle Valentino gown to the Emmy. The colour looked great on her.

Phoebe Price wore a dress from Jean Fares Couture and almost shows more than she was supposed to.She gets the vote for worst dressed.

Purple also had its moments: Padma Lakshmi in a draped purple halter gown with red rosettes along the side by Badgley Mischka.

What better way to start the red-carpet festivities than with the beauteous Olivia Wilde. The actress emotes major Hollywood glamour in a light-blue, floral embellished gown by Marchesa.

Mila Kunis looks angelic in a heavenly burgundy, layered-tulle retro vibe Monique Lhuillier dress and Salvatore Ferragamo pumps.

Leave it to risk-taker Mary-Louise to don a deep purple cocktail dress by Zac Posen to the Emmys. It works because it's ultra frilly with the two-tone purple layered fabrics and a big, fun bow. And you have to love the glittery Louboutin!

Mariska Hargitay showed up in a Carolina Herrera silver lame gown

Leighton Meester chose an angelic white, shoulder-knotted Grecian inspired dress by Bottega Veneta for the evening.

Kyra Sedgwick in a L’Wren Scott dress with a cascade of ruffles on one side of the bust line.

Kristin Chenoweth sported a sexy silver minidress by Zuhair Murad

Kourtney Kardashian wore a strapless BCBG Max Azria dress, Christian Louboutin shoes, and Super Gems jewels.

Kim Kardashian wore a white hot asymmetrical dress by Ina Soltani. The bell sleeves add a disco groovy touch to her body. She accessorized with Gucci shoes, Swarovski clutch and Siera ring.

Kate Walsh attended the Emmys wearing a gorgeous gray Grecian-inspired gown with draping detail and sweetheart bustline.

Kara DioGuardi seems to be wearing her grandmother's caftan over the top of her sparkly dress by L’Wren Scott

Jennifer Morrison shined in Calvin Klein's raspberry dress.

We have not seen a lot of yellow dresses, but Jennifer Love Hewitt brought some sunshine to the red carpet and looked radiant in an ethereal lemon gown by Max Azria.

Another classic look from Jenna Fischer in Reem Acra dress

January Jones wore an art deco-ish metallic cut-out detail dress by Versace

Heidi Klum and her beautiful baby bump hit the red carpet in a black strapless Marchesa gown with a cascading train.

Giuliana Rancic wore an exquisite ice blue dress by a young Argentinian designer named Gustavo Cadile from his Resort 2010 collection.

Drew Barrymore in a lovely princess ball gown by Monique Lhuillier and 'Drew' clutch from Raven Kauffman

Christina Applegate always looks excellent on the red carpet. She was regal in this silky sapphire Basil Soda cowl-neck gown with mesh insert embellishment.

Chloe Sevigny wore a dress from Isaac Mizrahi's Resort 2010 collection. The white dress with baby black polka-dots, one-shouldered sheer gown stands out as being unique. A strategically placed gold broach adds personality, while more gold touches give her a '70s feel. Her clutch was from Lana Marks and the jewelry was from Nadine Krakov in Beverly Hills.

Carrie Preston wore a bright red dress by Mako Takada

Blake Lively looks regally seductive in this crimson Versace dress and Christian Louboutin's shoes.

Alyson Hannigan's strapless Vera Wang black-tiered gown may be safe, but somehow she looks lovely.

Who wore it better? Earlier this summer Kim Kardashian was at the Monte Carlo Television Festival to promote her reality TV show “Keeping Up With The Kardashian’s”.
She wore a strapless Rafael Cennamo white flowing gown, with a charcoal feather bodice whilst getting ready for her elegant photo shoot at the L’Hermitage Hotel.
She was ready for her close-up sporting loose waves and a ravishing red pout.

While Alicia Witt is a standout with the similar dress on the red carpet — She wore the same Rafael Cinnamo gown. Her dress also wows for a look that's equal parts romance and modern fashionista.

My personal favorite dress of the evening goes to---------->Jessica Lowndes :)

Jessica went for the classic, sugary sweet in a demure white and black Dolce and Gabbana dress. It's retro length drew attention to her more edgy platform pumps and adorned with a black bow and black accents. The dress compliments her and yet very stylish , her makeup is dramatic but not overwhelming, and even the shoes work . The dress is simply fabulous!

As a wrap, everyone looked nice but nice is boring though...Please, can’t we try a little harder next time?
